Where is it?
Near Kinloch / Taupō. Access off State Highway 32. Carpark on opposite side of road and river.
The Tramp:
3 hours track time. 5 hours with our 4.5 year old. River travel, swing bridge, hill with
viewpoint to the mountains, beautiful old growth forest near the hut. Can be very cold in
winter.
The Hut:
10 bunks. Room for tents in front of hut. Basic hut without bunk room.
Wood fire but often low on wood in winter
Good to know:
Access to river. Hut is small and could be busy in summer. Worth bringing a tent. Also
popular with hunters.
