Location: Top end of Wakamarina Road, Mount Richmond Forest Park, Marlborough
The Track:
2hr adult walk, about 7km, to a lovely hut in a clearing. Mostly in bush, while it follows a river valley up, you don’t actually access the river until the hut. Took a bunch of 4 – 6 year olds about 3.5hrs each way.
The Hut:
6 bed hut, standard hut.
Great camping in the immediate surroundings.
Steep access to the river ( probably 200m vertical) down a slightly tricky track.
Issues:
Nothing major noted. Can be a MTB track but the people we met riding said it was rooty enough to slow them down a lot, (but not our children).
